One option is to purchase plastic plates made out of already recycled plastic items, which will contribute to reducing the amount of new plastic produced and in circulation. Another way to get the most out of your plastic plates while being kind to the environment is to reuse them.

Many plastic plates are dishwasher safe, so after using them, just stick them in the dishwasher and use them again. Finally, if you cannot reuse the plates, be sure to recycle them so the plastic can be reused and turned into another product.

Plastic plates, like melamine dinnerware and plates, are very easy to find. They can be purchased in the grocery store, in the aisles with other disposable kitchenware like plastic cutlery and paper plates, napkins, and cups. They are also available from retailers like Target and Wal-Mart.
